Academia-Industry Interactive Session

Dawood UET organized an Academia-Industry Interactive Session under the collaboration of EU CBHE Project CATCH_VR, PEC, and NCRAAI MUET.

The inaugural meeting of the Industrial Advisory Board (IAB) Dawood University of Engineering & Technology (DUET) having an Academia-Industry Interactive Session under the collaboration of EU CBHE Project CATCH_VR and PEC having a keynote talk “Role of AI and Digital Twin for Industrial Transformation: Real-time Projects and Their impact” by Prof Ali Kashif Bashir, Head Advanced Cyber Security Testbed and Director, Secure and Intelligent Systems, Manchester Metropolitan university, UK.
This meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the goals and objectives of the IAB, and gathered valuable feedback on the current curriculum and future initiatives. Prof Dr Abdul Rauf welcome the delegates and highlighted the role of IAB. Prof BS Chowdhry, Coordinator of EU CBHE project Capacity Building in Teaching of AR/VR (CATCH_VR) briefed about the project. He mentioned that CATCH_VR addresses capacity building in higher education, focusing on Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR). It involves a consortium of educational institutions from Europe and Asia. We have chosen Graduate Engineering Education specifically, considering its impact on the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains. The proposal outlines the use of Digital Twining using AR/VR, encompassed within the basic definition of system engineering, to communicate with stakeholders (students) across all three domains. It details the development of curriculum, teaching methodology, assessment procedures, and methods for continuous quality improvement (CQI), as well as human resource training. Universities from Bulgaria, Ireland, Romania, and Pakistan are collaborating on this project.
Prof Dr Smareen Hussain, Vice Chancellor DUET thanked EU consortium for inclusion of DUET as a partner. She mentioned that DUET is one of the leading Engineering and Technological Universities in the industrial hub city of Karachi having a 20+ million population
